Christian Wedding

Christian Wedding

Weddings have the same essence all over the world but each religion, and region has its own customs and rituals.
Here, we take a look at the western Christian wedding. The dreamy look of that white gorgeous gown and the first kiss is somewhere at the back of every girl’s mind! Lets find out more about what goes around in a Christian wedding…
The wedding ceremony takes place at a Churchand is conducted by a wedding minister. The bride wears a white gown that symbolises purity and chastity and the groom wears a suit. The bride also wears a veil to cover her head which is usually adorned by a crown made of white flowers.
The ceremony begins with seating of the grandparents and parents of both the bride and groom. The Minister then enters with the groom and the grooms men. They are then followed by the bridesmaids dressed in similar gowns holding flowers. These are usually bride’s cousins or close friends.
Soon after, the bride’s mother rises to announce bride’s coming and the bride walks down the aisle with the her father. The bride and the groom then stand face to face and the priest by their side to initiate the ceremony.
The congregation is then seated and the Minister recites the wedding vows which the bride and groom repeat expressing the entrance into a covenant. This is followed by exchange of ringsand the pronouncement where the priest officially declares them man and wife. The minister then says the closing prayer and then tells the groom that he may kiss the bride.
The bride tosses the flower bouquet right before the couple leaves and it is believed that the girl who catches the flowers gets married next!
